The change the play link to only having the ability to create a game. I cannot see any “open” games anymore. Is this a glitch?
Click on the “Custom” tab.
I told, “Custom” is too small, people will miss it
Custom is creating a custom game. I am looking for the list of created games by other players.
Edit, Oh I see, it is conveniently placed at the bottom of custom games. I can see how this is less confusing than the old system.
someone already missed it!!
Out of curiosity, are you on a phone or a desktop?
For desktop users, it strikes me we’d be better off like if we laid it out like this:
Then at least the list is visible as soon as you hit the page (and the layout feels more familiar).
For phones, those users are perhaps more accutsomted to scrolling down to find anyhow?
I agree that, aside from the layout of this Tab, the “Custom Games” label is “hidden” in the way that stonedefender says.
I wonder if it should in fact be a button “More Games” … or something, so it is not overlooked.
I am in very wide window and graph is below game creation menu for me
ah
Yes - my layout above is a quick hack to show what I think might be better.
Aside from bringing the game list up, I also happen to prefer the graph when it is smaller and squarer
As I pointed out here, New layout of matchmaking - #15 by Conrad_Melville, some people are confused by the layout, because “Custom Games” is small and not fully communicative. Making it bigger, and simply adding something like “(includes list of open challenges)” would help.
Makes more sense to have three separate tabs, matchmaking, custom games, open games.
Problem solved
In what way are these two different? Is it that custom would be only the creation options, while open is only other people’s game offers?
I think the current functionality means that once you create a custom challenge it goes into the list of open challenges where you can manage it, cancel it or accept other peoples challenges instead while waiting. At least at the moment the two are linked, and might need to be decoupled then.
Apparently a lot of people didn’t realize that quick match games don’t show up in the list of available games. (They should!)
Problem with current Custom Games tab is that if you wish to accept games of someone else you have to scroll down menu of creating game and then scroll below the graph.
At one point I might’ve agreed but not anymore. I don’t think the list of games scales well, and it creates a race for people to click quickly to get a challenge before it disappears. It also means people are more likely to not read the settings before accepting, which can lead to games being cancelled.
That and the fact that list jumps around while games are being constantly accepted and created is just incredibly messy.
We hopefully just need automatch to function correctly/efficiently and with enough players.
The main problem was and is that many players can’t find the game list because nothing on the landing tab tells them where the list is. The secondary problem is that “Custom Games” and “Quick Match” are both too small.
