Basically the title.
In my opinion it’s better for beginners and kyus in general:
- The mistakes are not dependent on Game position, a one point mistake kann be a 99% drop or a 1% drop on the graph. Not easy to understand
- points give more information about mistakes when one side is ahead
But maybe people here on the forum have seen begginers struggle more with the point representation, let me know if that is the case.
- Yeah, set default to points
- No, winning percentage is better
Both would be a nice option, so that players do have a choice.

They already have a choice. The question is what should be the default.

Let people chose their own default or make it clearer to players that there is a choice.
Good point, I should clarify.
People can already change the default for themeselves:
But when they first create an account the default is “Win %”.
I propose to change the initial default when creating a new account, because many people miss the imo “better” option, which is score.
Of course you could also make the button clearer.

In the long term though, it might even be better to use winrate
It can be a bit disheartening to see that every move you make, all the time, is a mistake.
Maybe it’s not so bad to see an approximately 0% point win rate change every now and then

I think points prediction by AI are pointless for beginners. The percentage should make more sense for them. Total amount of points is not the goal in go.
Points prediction works when both players play the best moves. Is it appropriate for beginners?
