Maybe Kramnik was right about the drugs?

I don’t think Kramnik’s accusations had anything to do with drugs.
Saying this without clicking the new, but like that is kind of expected finding I believe.
Not talking about the accusations, but after Danye passed away Kramnik said something along the lines of he was doing drugs and nobody checked on him
Ok, not wanting to start a flame war here. But got the feeling that the after Danya’s death the chess world went after Kramnik, because, although not explicitly stated, the suspicion that is was a suicide was on the table. Suicide due to depression could more directly be linked to the cheating accusation made by Kramnik. I think that it is now seen as an accidental drug overdose muddies the picture. Of course Accusations → Depression → Drugs use → Accidental death is a trajectory that makes sense to most of us but its not as direct as Accusations → Depression → Suicide. That being said I think Danya’s performance at the 2024 blitz and rapid world championship in New York shows that he was an elite player at those formats and that Kramnik’s accusations were unfounded. IMHO
I actually hadn’t seen any recent news about it being accidental, and given that how Danya’s last stream went, suicide still seems plausible to me.
And as far as I’m aware, Kramnik never admitted he was wrong on accusations nor said something about the issues the accusations caused on Danya.
I think Danya was not the only person Kramnik accused. Suicide or not, the fact that he was doing drugs could have contributed to his death.
You cannot really expect all people to have same amount of reaction, though, and Kramnik’s accusations had been “criticized” (to put it lightly) among chess world even before Danya’s death.
You need to be more careful, then, since when you’re up that much material your biggest challenge is not accidentally stalemating.
OK I guess to be fair if you play a check then you know you are not stalemating on that move.
Well there were many times when I was up by a lot of material but I lost by time because I couldn’t find the checkmate
This is fair, and I was thinking as I wrote my kind of snarky comment, that it depends on the timer, and hence the second sentence that sometimes spamming checks is the best you can do.
Also white has enough other material on the board that stalemate isn’t a concern anyway.
These last few seem more like “share your checkmates” than “chess discussions”.
Would you like a thread for something like that? Sharing/discussing checkmates?
I was thinking of creating one, but since this is a Go forum I hesitated on creating more chess threads
