OMG.
This one was truly evil.
Thank god I read this.
A person could have gone mad looking for that in Europe!
I’m not sure vsotvep should be allowed to ever set one of these again…
… thinks. Was that an April Fools joke? Very amusing.

Good job!
I also put in a hint: there are hills viisible on the right; there are no hills like that in the Netherlands.
Also, it’s winter in the photo, but the sun is way too high for a winter sun in the Netherlands
I take my hat off to vsotvep, the master geo-challenge setter. I can’t top his geniusly devised challenges, but here’s something at least slightly different …
… a break from staring at building images and paddling around canals
This reminds me of my days playing cities skylines: doing research about interchanges.
Spaghetti junction, Birmingham.
Been looking for the ‘onsen’ but…
I’ve been looking for a matching guard rail and coming up empty.
I’m always willing to give cred when cred is due… Vsotvep is good at this ol’ game.
Oh, it’s explained on the Internet. Apparently the Germans basically have surveillance PTSD for obvious reasons.
It’s not an onsen, with more than 80ºC I wouldn’t want to jump into this lake… Although there are bathhouses in the vicinity, naturally.
Don’t bother translating the sign, but do bother studying it: they can tell you something about the location.
Also, special bonus round for @Eugene:
If that one also is not Utrecht I might hunt you down and kill you
I should have the skills to find you now

The signs are only Hanzi and the whole thing looks more like a geysir. Now, where are the geysirs in China, and if you fall into one, do you transform into a panda until you apply cold water?
I did notice that a lot of these places have black and white signs. I found an image of one with green signs like this and … lost it! I literally can’t retrace my steps to that picture!
ok, let’s try this. This is the best photo I have ever taken and it has been my desktop image for years.
You need to think what it is we are seeing down there. Fields? The sea ? Is it really flat or is it mist?
The beaches underneath those mountains on the background are the most “touristic” place in Greece, amongst Greeks (so, not Mykonos
)
There are no islands in the picture, so you have 6000+ less places to worry about
No, I was not in a prison camp
Great photo! Technically the rules are that we have photos from Google Maps, but let’s do this lovely one! But just checking: can we get close to this vantage point in street view?
When you say there are no islands - does that include the foreground? We’re not standing on an island?

Oops, I missed that part, but it is right there on the first post. ![]()
Yes, indeed, you can have that view from google maps, I just checked, though google’s pic was definitely not at the exact same time and weather (you cannot even see the mountains - they are 70km away actually - another hint) and I had around 3-4 meters elevation from the road (the main road is behind the chain fence, 3 meters below)
