“Can anyone help me take a look? I’m a bit confused. I played a game on Xingyi Go , and in the end, why did it show that I won? I think it showed I won by 10 points or something? I can’t quite remember, but the AI analysis in this app clearly showed that Black was greatly ahead. Then I went to another app, Xingzhen Go , imported the game to verify, and it also showed Black won by around 27 points. Both apps should be fine — from the diagrams, you can see the territory judgment in both apps is the same. I’m asking for some guidance, thanks a lot. This wasn’t a game played on OGS. I hope it’s okay to ask about it here.”
Probably the main source of confusion comes from the fact that the game is not properly finished, and thus cannot be scored properly.
Say the middle six black stones for example. If white plays first, they may be captured. If Black plays first, they may be saved. That alone is a huge point swing in such a late endgame…
The lower right is also still a bit hairy, and there are a lot of open borders.
The AI is not saying “this is the score”, it is saying “This is the best result I can achieve with my near perfect play from this point”
