I think what we’re really saying is: Can we make a shogi site that follows the OGS philosophy, i.e. one that:
As someone who’s never played shogi, I think that’d be great. You’d probably get a fairly similar playerbase to OGS: generally weak to intermediate players from English-speaking countries.
You’re forgetting a key ingredient: committed and experienced developers
Indeed, just like in many spheres of life little can be achieved without skill and hard work. I mean, I’m not so enthusiastic about shogi that I’m going to demand people commit themselves like this. It’s more: if a site got made, I’d probably play on it a bit and make a forum post saying “nice work guys”. That’s my enthusiasm level.
