Update:
I have 16/19 stones as I got one stone captured at G16, and collided with G15 and B5.
18/19 stones, collision at D4.
16/19 stones, collisions with Q6, J16, N14.
3/20 visible, 7/20 captured (G15, G17,F16, N14, B5 C5, D4), so thatās 10 unaccounted for.
Do we want another move at say E2 or E3, or B3 or C4 just see if there are any more stones there ā less because Iām worried we might be captured now, more so just to know where the rest of the stones are, and to help evaluate our position.
If one player, maybe @Vsotvep or @martin3141 for the (E moves) played one of these moves, the other could look elsewhere.
Maybe consider E3, M16 and something else?
Beat you to it!
I feel like the four stones near C14 are a possible next tartet. It looks like they should be able to connect to E16 though.
I would like to play in the center, testing if yebellz has stones there. Are you ok with me playing G10 this turn?
By the way, for the particular YouTube video that I posted, there actually are English subtitles available translating all of the Japanese speech.
Yes, G10 is fine. I will play C2 then, should bring me closer to getting two eyes and hopefully reveal some information.
I think @shinuito should make sure the C14 or the C9 stones arenāt in danger. Imagine C12 / C11 / C10 all being connected, that would be very nice.
I can play C10 now I guess since that group has one less liberty and hopefully if itās surrounded I can reveal it a move earlier.
So, everyone on board with
C10
C2
G10
then?
I canāt help but feel that C10 will make bad shape
But maybe thatās precisely why itās a good move; yebellz will never see it coming
Letās do it.
If the goal is to connect the two groups, it canāt be helped for now, right?
The problem with good shape, is that itās often easy to disconnect if you canāt see your opponentās stones
Im okay with it. Yeah c10 is bad, and it doesnāt do anything for liberties, but if itās a collision itās good to see it early, if itās not a collision itās one step closer to connecting.
Ok lets go for it. @yebellz
Detectives Win
I resign
Thank you for the game!
The Kibitz thread is now public here: Kibitz for the Detective Go First Game
Thank you for the game! The kibitz thread looks really cool, and the quips/memes/videos when stones were discovered/captured added to the fun ![]()
It does seem like a tough game for the fugitive looking through the kibitz thread at times, but it also felt tough as a detective, trying to imagine the worst case, but also the more realistic scenarios and then trying to make a plan based on it.
I think @martin3141 and @Vsotvep were better at making the plans ![]()
Thank you for the game @yebellz . It was a lot of fun and I love the idea of this variant.
Now that the stones are revealed, it looks like you were very close to capturing the lower-left in major fashion. Well played!
