Pro Yeonwoo appeared in S1 and now it’s Lee Sedol.

I received a notification for S2 and wasn’t going to watch but now I have to!

I was wondering whether they’d bring on a pro for S2 again, but I didn’t expect Lee Sedol.

Let’s see how fast he gets eliminated :joy:

Lee Sedol is probably the ideal person since he’s retired, famous and talks a lot. I think it will be difficult to ask any of the active pros now because then the fans will be like “why are you appearing on TV shows instead of studying Go??” :joy:

Anyone else done watching S2 already?

Some thoughts on Lee Sedol’s appearance:

  • He still keeps that Iconic thinking pose even when not playing Go

  • It’s funny that he didn’t want to change into Prisoner clothes for a long time

  • He’s quite a nice guy

  • He’s more comedic and conversational than I thought

Spoilers
  • I wonder how he would’ve fared if he had participated in the bonus rounds

  • It’s a bit of a pity that he was just suddenly eliminated by that incident

  • He probably should have made more alliances instead of acting alone. Yeonwoo also lost because she didn’t make alliances.

  • I wonder if they would still have played Wall Baduk if Lee Sedol were still around

Wait, so this movie has nothing to do with go?

It’s a reality TV show, not a movie. There are some mentions of Go and there’s a game very similar to Go.

Oh, I see

I agree and

spoiler

I think his skill was overestimated and there was no real need to eliminate him instead of a stronger player.

I was surprised they were all kind of intimidated by him from the beginning. That showed me how much respect Koreans have for strong Baduk players.

Spoiler

I think it’s a real pity the he was eliminated early before he was able to show anything. His performance in the death room was quite impressive but in the main games he was like meh.

It’s not just a normal Baduk player. It’s the only human to have beaten AlphaGo, and it was probably big news in Korea as well. Lee Sedol is also known for his impressive instincts, which may have spread to outside the Baduk world as well.
