I think black is ahead in area, but I’m confused about the scoring. Aren’t there only 96 points (4 x 24) on the board? I’ve counted 53 black area and 43 white area. (EDIT: I miscounted. It should be 52 to 44)

Sorry, I just realized that some of my recent screenshots were getting cut-off. Here is the position that I used to count (just filling in all area with stones).

Hmmm… You’re right, I must’ve counted something double. Nevertheless, I am quite sure the difference in points is 8, not 10. I count 52 Black, 44 White.

Yes, you’re right. I made a mistake counting somehow.

13 + 17 + 19 + 3 = 52
11 + 7 + 5 + 21 = 44

What perplexes me is how to count things double in order to preserve a margin of 8, instead of getting 16? An epistemic puzzle, perhaps…

I removed stones one by one, got 8 Black stones left over, and then tried to work backwards to the score, which failed.
