The 6th Lanke Cup Grand Slam took place in Belgrade, Serbia from the 16th until the 19th of December. With the first prize being €10,000, this competition is undoubtedly the most prestigious go tournament in Europe.
This year I was lucky to win the Grand Slam. In the December edition of the European Go Journal, you will find my impressions of participating in it. Besides, I have also commented on the final game, which I played against Tanguy Le Calvé 1p.
Kind of sad that the massive underdog story of Tanguy defeating Ilya to make it to the finals didn’t culminate in his ultimate victory, but congratulations all the same Artem
In the December edition of the European Go Journal, you will find an interview with Ilya Shikshin 4p, the highest-rated European go player.
We talked with Ilya about his life on the go board and beyond. Did you know that Ilya plays the piano?
This month Ilya has also won his eighth European Championship. He kindly agreed to comment on his second and decisive game of the final against Artem Kachanovskyi 2p.
In the passing year, our project has started. Our team was happy to share with you go news from Europe and beyond, commentary on exciting games, go-related art & photography, and much more.
Our sales grew from zero to around 300 copies per month. We delivered print copies of our magazine not only to Europe and America but also to such countries as Japan, United Arab Emirates, and South Africa.
Many thanks to everyone supporting the project! In the coming year, with your help, we hope to continue our work.
We wish you enlightenment on 361 intersections in the coming year!
On behalf of the European Go Journal team,
Artem Kachanovskyi 2p,
Editor-in-chief
