Game blocking the start of an AST-game

Registering for an AST (automatic side wide tournament) and still have some time to play a game before the tournament starts. So I decide to play that warm up game.

However that warm up game takes more time to than I assumed it would take. While playing the last moves of that game, suddenly the AST notification of the first AST game appears.

The problem is that when I click to start that AST game, I am redirected to the warm up game and I can only start the AST game when the warm up game is concluded.

This is weird and not convenient. Not the way it is supposed to be. Can anybody help?

Unfortunately I think it “is the way it is supposed to be” in some sense.

Originally it was like

but then it changed to redirecting you back to the live game.

Though I’m not sure where that change is logged, but I vaguely remember it being a thing.

@GreenAsJade any memory of that?

Not really. On OGS you’re not supposed to play more as 1 live game at the same time which seems to be the chosen policy.

Really? I thought it’s common to play more than 1 live game at the same time especially for teaching games

So you don’t get that warning?

Sometimes in AST there the pairing goes not as it is supposed to be, and suddenly you play two games at the same time. No warning, just inconvenient.

In the past I seem to remember that it was possible to play two (or more) custom live games at the same time.

I remember being able to play two games at the same time. One was a live AST and one was a blitz AST.

It definitely was possible. But I also remember a change coming in as an anti escaping measure.

Maybe it was only temporary?

I can definitely navigate away from the game anyway.

There is a limit (quite a small number, I don’t recall it) on live games at the same time.

However, if you are doing that you still have to remain connected to them all. That means “don’t navigate away from them, play them in separate tabs”
