Give max size to the board

Yeah it’s bad. @Feijoa created an issue on Github for this: In a game, landscape mobile view should more effectively use the vertical space · Issue #1487 · online-go/online-go.com · GitHub

Tbh I think if someone is trying to do this, they should just use the native app. Even if the OGS header is removed, and the arrows are moved, the browser header takes up a lot of space.

FWIW, I checked shinkgs and gokibitz. In comparison, OGS does pretty well :joy:

If i ever inadvertently show that screenshot to someone I am introducing OGS, I feel like I’m gonna have that ear-reddening phenomena :joy:

I was hoping some technical way to move them to the right part too, i imagine that’s complex.

I think it’s complicated, yeah. You can use scrolling to hide it, but that’s a little complicated and possibly annoying as a user.

I agree. The thing is to aim to the same quality as what apps offer (not web). Checked that kgs app which has similar well fitted goban as the apps we mentioned already. I checked more, golinks, Goquest… they all are.

Ok for a bit of optimism, i put a lichess screenshot with perfectly fitted chessboard. There is still something on the web side with similar size to aim for

This fixes:

But doesn’t fix:
