Glitches with the new discourse [solved]

Before there was a separation between what you wrote and what you will see, with a toggle. That was easy, you could have a quick check and then modify if necessary.

That disappears so now text is modified on the spot in the window. You lose access to the text and get directly what you will see.

It’s problematic for me in some cases:

The use of the markers for bold and inclined are no more well managed (as an example I got trapped here by writing the symbol for it as it disappears as soon as I write it)

The copy a quote is not always working. I get a copy which stay as a text and refuse to become a quote. I found no way to make it work as it should.

The delete brings some weird things. Like including a text in a quote.

Do you share the same difficulties? Any hints?

I really like better the old simple way, I guess it would be difficult to go back to it.

Another very minor glitch is the message “you have still 1 message to read" which always is here when I finished to read them all (at the bottom). But that’s a small annoyance, just to mention

I still use the old way

And there’s a button in the bottom right then to preview what you wrote.

I think @Groin is saying that this toggle has disappeared for him? However, the forum seems to be working normally for me.

@Groin, what browser are you using? Could you share a screenshot?

Big discovery for me!

Thank you.

Not all the time in fact. Only when it is useful. I didn’t notice it.

Again only there for me in the old mode

Yes, that’s why I got confused, staying in the new mode

I see another problem. In the message list view, for example after hitting g n
to list all new messages, if there are “too many” messages listed and I start
marking with Shift+B, then scroll down far enough, the selection cursor gets
stuck and I can’t go any further. I have to execute an action (like mark-read) on the messages I have already marked, which returns the cursor back to the 1st message in the list so I have to start again from there (albeit with fewer total messages now).

I just returned from vacation, so I have a backlog of 50+ messages which is
enough to trigger this.
