I knew you’d all be great at this!
I mean it with all respect and politeness possible: this is awful.
Update: The shortlist has now been released so please vote before the end of July if you’re a BGA member! If not, then feel free to kibitz the designs anyway

Honestly none of the 6 look very appealing to me… Just curious what are the logos of the other go associations?
I find entry 2 very clever since it incorporates a map of the UK in go stones yet is simple. If that one is not selected then I worry about the electorate!
Here is the logo for the Swedish Go Association:
(which amusingly acronyms to “SGF” in Swedish)

A handful of other ones (no particular selection, just the logos I stumbled upon first when googling, may not all be current):
Oh I didn’t notice. Did Black play England, then White played the contact move at Wales, Black played Northern Ireland and White made a hane at Scotland?
I’m worried that Black will cut Wales and Scotland next. But if Black tenukis, then White will cut England and Northern Ireland.
Someone explains me what is interesting in entry 1?
Is that a calligraphy challenge?
It’s the current logo. I guess other people agreed with you that the logo should be changed.
Some interesting ideas but a global feeling that all look unfinished
I agree with you so it’s a nice idea but no one can see it… Too obscure? Anyway the most appealing to me too.
We put a wreath on a tsumego and called it a day
As far as I can tell this is the standard font in MS Word and if any of you has OCD, there is a slight chance that the logo and the text are not 100% centered.
This one is included so that people can choose to stick with the current one if they prefer that to any of the options.
That would seem a bit pointless to me but there it is.
I think maybe the circles of the bga letters at the bottom are supposed to be the south of England, with the b being Devon/Cornwall sticking out. Whilst the EGF logo has enough stones to make the ‘stones as map’ idea obvious, the bga one doesn’t.
I would suggest that it doesn’t matter if you recognise this or not, it’s still a fairly simple, clean logo that is obviously about go. If people wonder about the one offset stone rather than it just being a cross cut then so much the better.
It might not be obvious initially but once you realise or are told it seems obvious or appropriate at least, doesn’t it? even clever maybe?
Yeah, I liked (2) the best even without realizing it was a map.
Generally, I think logos don’t need to be too obvious. They should look good and have symbolism, but the symbolism doesnt have to smack you in the face
