A overloaded big ship stuck like an overloaded rengo, it’s fine. Don’t see anything personal in that. There won’t be any problem if the rengo was not overloaded ( Even it’s bit of compliment)
no, it was about stuck game only
that “green” word exists on ship and on your username I noticed only now.
Well, fortunately I have a good sense of humour, and can see the humour in it.
I wish you had just laughed at my joke in return instead of extending your criticism of me in this thread, but I guess if I were a comedian I wouldn’t be a programmer.
Waiting someone now to explain us that meme is not only about humour
Is this meant to draw an analogy between fear of clowns and fear of ko? Why is the author “Stiven King”
To avoid copyright issues, or accusations of misrepresenting another author’s work, I imagine
I didn’t change it. Non-English version I think. I’ve added the original image to the meme for comparison.
Conventions. If there is no mechanism to enforce a law, is it a law?
If the law is decorative, is it really a law?
More likely an aspiration. I’m not opposed to the pursuit of war criminals but given the typical consequences of wars themselves, it’s usually like slapping a $5 parking ticket on a Ferrari.
As they say, “The first casualty of war is the truth.” Not an ideal environment for law enforcement.
I took a lesson about international criminal law, their unofficial motto was something like “trust us, we’ll eventually get to justice ”.
Well that’s reassuring… /s
Of course a game of go isn’t about player’s life and death, but that meme made me think about this question:
Is it better to be alive and dishonoured or dead with honour?
I think a samurai (?) saying is more or less “as long as you’re alive you can always reclaim you honor”.
What I meant to express was something that it is rather annoying when a player disconnects when falling behind. Not respectful and wasting the opponent’s time.
To express my annoyance I used the word dishonourable to give it some extra weight.
Funny thing is that my opponent of the game that prompted me to make this meme challenged me five minutes later, played some moves and resigned.
@Gia nice proverb about the samurai. Do you have a source?
I might even turn it into a philosophical go meme
<vent>
This winds me up, even if it’s not me playing. I watched a game some weeks ago, one is clearly behind and disconnects. ~3.5 minutes later they reconnect then make their opponent wait over 4 minutes main time plus all the byo-yomi’s while their clock runs down to lose by timeout. What’s more, the game history showed like 20 out of 50 disconnects or timeouts. The only explanation I can come up with is that they legit might not know what the ‘Resign’ button does.

I went far away from the actual meaning of your meme.
My question isn’t about the game, but was inspired by your meme so I felt this could be the right place for asking.
This doesn’t sound much as samurai to me, if I understood something of their philosophy and sense of honour.
I could be wrong, though.
I’m ready to be corrected, I’m not even sure it was samurai.
The question of life and death with and without honor is the theme of many classic books, such as The Red Badge of Courage and Lord Jim. Starting as a kid, and into early adulthood, I liked collecting quotes. The very first one I wrote down, probably around age 8 or 9 was by Seneca, “When honor is lost, what is left?” I got that from Bartlett’s, which I used to browse. I didn’t read Seneca until my early 20s.
Disconnecting like that (escaping) is probably the most reported violation. Escapers who persist, despite multiple warnings, typically get banned.
As it happens, part of my template message to escapers when I was moderating was “Failing to accept the score and escaping, as you did in …, is a rude and dishonorable act prohibited by OGS,” or “Failing to resign and escaping…” My hope was to prick the conscience of some players, and it seems to work in some instances, judging from feedback.
Emh, what does “biscotti” mean in English?
I tried searching (quickly) and can’t find anything other than “cookies/biscuits”.
