It’s originally about the time Edward and Alphonse, the main characters from Fullmetal Alchemist, tried to use alchemy (basically manga-logic magical chemistry) to give their mother her life back, on “october 3rd year 11”. Obviously it ended tragically. But the 5th of May is the day Sai disappears in Hikaru no Go, and 2001 is the year that chapter (ch. 124) came out.
