Those red koans aren’t counter examples. E.g. in 672 there are 2 white and 1 black stone in the center, thus the imbalance in the center is 2 - 1 = 1 and one black stone on the rim, so the imbalance on the rim is 1 - 0 = 1. Since 1 is not bigger than 1, the koan does not fulfill the rule and is therefore red.
My bad — brainfart!
Let me get back to you in a few minutes.
Red counterexample (using your definition of a 3 x 3 center on a 7 x 7 board):

I believe we already had some green koans that are counter examples to that rule:
I suppose this last koan means that we allow chains with no liberties.
I stated as much in post #1588
Koans don’t have to be legal go positions.
(I keep a collection of all colourized koans in that post as well!)
Right, I forgot ![]()
In that case I’d like to ask about this koan please:

This koan is blasphemy!

all those illegal go positions are red. hmmm…

I must say I haven’t had the time to really think about these, but looking at them for the past 5 minutes, I have no clue yet…

I think that should be green since we still haven’t had a red koan that is symmetric under rotation+color inversion. If it is red that’s real progress.
This narrows down the possibility space quite a bit
