Help Needed Creating Game Reviews

I am trying to review some games that I have played with some beginner friends on OGS and am succeeding for the most part, but one thing that I can not figure out how to do is to insert a branch into the review. It looks as though this should be possible since there is a “copy a branch” and a “paste a branch” option, but I don’t seem to be able to make these features work. I there a tutorial somewhere for this?

Go to the position the branch should be from,
and then play the different sequence on the board.

Manually playing moves is certainly an alternative to copy pasting branches, but doesn’t really address the question of how the function is supposed to work.

However, I think it does address how one can insert a branch into the review.

Thank you for the replies. I’m thinking that just manually placing a letter on the board for the reviewie to click, and to let them know (in text) to click on this to see a variation thread, and then to have the variation that I want to show in place, does seem to work. (Thank you!). This just isn’t as seamless as I had pictured, but it is probably the way that this review system is meant to work. I don’t need the “paste” function if I can enter it manually. If I need something more intuitive or simple to offer, I probably need an SGF editor or something. This is fine for now though and is what I was looking for I think. Thanks again.
