How to Lose a Go Match, in Style!

Thrilled to be one of OGS May’s two new members of the month!

A big thank you to @SleepTracker for teaching me on June 2nd how to accept defeat in style on June 5th.

(Since English is my second language, ChatGPT helped me with this letter’s text, and SORA with the design).

Never heard about someone being born SDK. Huge majority of go players found friends and respect along the way to play better.
Enjoy your time on OGS!

Not being a native English speaker, I thought sare was a typo.
Boy, was I wrong.
Sare (although a bit archaic British) means dry, withered.

"Sora (OpenAI’s video/image generator) was incredibly creative.

You can find at least a few more visual quirks or inconsistencies, and it’s as much fun as searching for our matches’ liberties!"

Dear @Groin:

Could you please tell us what SDK means?

single digit kyu, like me 5k

Sorry.

SDK is used on online go servers for Single Digit Kyu (9k to 1k) usually considered as intermediate strength players
DDK is used for Double Digit Kyu (beginners start at 25k on OGS to 10k)

Oh my, @Atorrante & @Groin, my rank also went up to single digit today  >

Please don’t focus too much on ranks. Ranks are made to get interesting pairing with players of similar strength so producing interesting games for both.
It’s not really for bragging and the best players keep some modesty even before the existence of over powered AIs

It looks like your fantastic question offers a lot of room for interpretation!

I was truly honored to play, learn, and be guided by Queen of Light (what an incredible name!) in that fair-as-real-life game.

Just as @Groin said, we are all like round stones playing. No name, no title nor race nor genders nor ages. Like all little kids, having fun.

On the other hand, my actual rank was 52Kyu and I was in top 1% (bottom up) then. So I decided that my left brain needs to practice with math, intensively, to balance with my dreaming right brain.

We can reach specific goal more easily if it is specified in numbers, isn’t it?

Cheers!

This is actually very uplifting. I hope you keep enjoying the game, without caring about the outcome.

Uplifting, yes, indeed.

Outcome carefree?
To the contrary, @JethOrensin:

My main goal is to help balance the left and right brains of a neurodiverse person experiencing memory loss.

My June 3 smarty (measurable) goal was 45Kyu by June 12 and 30Kyu by July 5.

So, after @Queen_of_Light’s instructions—which clearly showed me I’d surely lose—I carefully reviewed each game.

And here’s the result!
