I need your Help! (Promoting AllThingsGoGame)

Hi all,

The Go community has been wonderful with connecting the Show with the right people, groups, etc to provide interesting interviews and other material as different ideas have arisen.

Below is a current list of potential interviews and interests for future episodes. If you known those who might be a good fit for any of these conversation or someone who might know someone that could make the connection or get me in touch with them, that would be incredibly helpful. Also please do not hesitate to add your own ideas of people to interview and topics.

You can use either this post or my email (AllThingsGoGame@gmail.com) to pass anything on. Thank you in advance and for listening to the show!

~Travis
All Things Go Podcast

  • interviewing top Chinese and Japanese professionals and anyone who may be willing to make a connection or provide contact info. Also people willing to translate. (I will try the main email contacts for each country’s Go association but any other information or connections would be greatly appreciated). Rui Naiwei.

  • Helping get in touch with Ryan Li 4p, Michael Redmond 9pm (emailed with no response), Janice Kim (emailed with no response), and other interesting people in the Go world with a a lot of contributions to the community.

  • Anyone who is martial art expert of some sort who also plays Go and can speak to the intersection between the two areas or point me to someone who might be able to.

  • Interviewing Japanese (or from other countries) Go board or equipment makers. Who should I be talking to, any help with getting in contact with them, etc. Or talking to experts on Go equipment.

  • Someone who has in depth knowledge of different ranking calculation systems, the pros and cons of each, the ELO system used by OGS, etc.

  • Someone who can speak to performance coaching and psychological aspects of play in sports and intense games like Go. It is preferable if they also play Go.

  • A conversation between the most influential stakeholders in the West for spreading Go. Who would those people/representatives be in the conversation? Help with getting in touch with them?

  • A roundtable discussion between the best Go teachers about the best ways to teach, best practices, things to avoid, etc. who should these people be?

  • Reviews of new Go websites? Explore Baduk? Awesome Baduk? Simple Baduk? Other Go schools like Inseong? Others? Is this of interest?

  • An in depth multi episode interview with John Power or John Fairbairn about the history of go in Japan from different eras. I have emailed without response.

  • Dwyrin. My DMs have had no response.

Correct. Thanks!

Hey Travis, i sadly can’t provide any contact info. But i would love to hear interviews with GO professionals on your show. Maybe it is easier to have interviews with north american or european proffesionals, because of the language barrier. I would love to hear you chat with them about their study methods, their weekly schedule, their daily routine, how they balance their GO career with their daytime jobs and their experiences playing against chinese, korean and japanese proffesionals in tournaments. Keep up the good work.

I think I’ll be able to help a bit in this area.
I’ve been teaching various martial arts for almost a decade now.
