I thought it was octopii with two i.
Also, the plural form of octopus is “yes, with as much vinegar as possible”.
And garlic
I always thought it was octopuses not octopusses
I’m even more confused now, the plural of bus is apparently buses, not busses.
Am I projecting Dutch again? Am I going insane?
What do you call a very gentle octopus, who does not do any harm?
Answer
An octopussycat
I think, don’t quote me, that English kinda follows the Greek spelling in the loan words in some ways- most times (I swear I’m not doing a “Learn Greek 101” today, it just happened.).
In Ancient Greek the declination (?) is pous- podos, so the stem for plural is pod-, not pus-. So, although it follows the English -uses, it inherits the “not double consonant” from the original stem.
@Groin I love garlic, but my BP is abysmal. Laurel leaves do fine as well.
Why?
You are a rebel, I see. I approve.

I suppose this is a good time to ask, what’s the correct plural form of bigfoot? Is it bigfoot, bigfoots or bigfeet? I’m very partial to bigfeet, but I suspect it just isn’t happening.
Bigfoots, obviously.
I’m definitly with you on bigfeet!
Are you referring to a prominent or influential person, especially a journalist or news analyst?
Or are you referring to Bigfoot (cryptid)?
(Plural of criptid is cryptides)
In the first case (bigfoot) the plural is big·feet, big·foots.
In the second case (Bigfoot): I don’t know.
Anyone got a clue?
Most likely I’m referring to guys who get their kicks by donning a gorilla suit and hanging out in the woods to confuse people. One such person was famously caught on home movie footage lumbering away along a stream somewhere. In Idaho I think.
I guess I’ll go with bigfeet for now. It’s not like anyone’s going to sue me. I guess.
Can the word “everything” be pluralized to “everythings”?

In my low knowledge, no (I’m no native speaker) but I may learn something here
Let’s hope you don’t pick up some bad habits.
You mean bad habits of learning something? Sorry I don’t get what you want to tell me
