i got my ipad last week and work through the differences in apps between android. one of my problems is that when using ogs as a local web app neither safari nor chrome is able to download sgf files. a blank page appears (as if waiting for an approval) and thats it. downloading from the website directly is working.
Maybe this app? There is no official app for OGS but this one is the unofficial one known
Oki. Then this is not what an app is, just a direct link to the page?
I mean an app is some standalone piece of software, not just a link and OGS don’t manage any app itself (so no official one). The two famous ones have a thread here in the forum opened by their creators.
When you open the link you want to add as web app, you should open the desired link in Safari (by default). In mid bottom of the page there is share button where you can find the add to the Home Screen button, which is the one you search for.
The link for ogs works perfectly for current iOS 26, however it is currently buggy for older iOS where you are not able to place stones or go back when needed.
Thanks for your response - but this is exactly what causes the problem. After adding to the home screen (and activating “open as webb app” to remove the decorations and get more screen estate) the download no longer works on ipad. This is ios 26.3
What you can do is do split screen, with OGS on one side, and an empty safari browser on the other side. Instead of tapping “download sgf” hold your finger on it, and drag it to the url bar on safari. This should allow you to download it.
Thanks for this work around. At the moment I just have two links - one without decoration to play, later another to open the game and download with full browser deco. Not optimal..
