Today, I couldn’t use analysis in Ogs games, and I couldn’t click the “Review this game” button because it was disabled. The first thing I checked was the “always disable analysis” setting in my profile, which was turned off. Then, I tried creating two “invitation” calls and going to the main menu to see the settings for those calls. In one of them, I enabled the “disable analysis” option, but in the other, I didn’t. However, both windows showed that analysis was disabled. I don’t understand why this might be happening or how to fix it. Please help me)
I’m attaching all the screenshots:
You can’t use analysis in ranked live games. You can use it in correspondence games.
If I 'm not wrong?
In automatch it works this way, but you can create live custom challenges with analysis enabled and ranked AFAIR
I’m confused whether you’re asking about “analysis” or “review?”
You can’t open a review on a game in progress that you are playing, ever.
You can’t open a review, because that provides ways to cheat by getting help - from AI or doing analysis when analysis is supposed to be disabled.
You can only analyse a game in progress, using OGS analysis tool, if “analysis is enabled”.
yes, I can’t click the “review this game” button, but I’ve used this tool before, about 3 weeks ago in games with students, for clarity, during the game. can you tell me if this option was removed recently, or am I confusing something?
I can confirm that turning off the “disable analysis” option seems to no longer work, at least with these settings:
Try to make an unrated game, but with analysis, I wonder if you will succeed.
Yes, thanks. There was no such thing before, I would like to figure it out. however, as I understand it, the “rewiew” button can no longer be pressed during the game, as before.
Just to pick a random example, in this game from a few months ago we can see that a review was opened by one of the players while the game was in progress:
I don’t know what to expect or how reviews work at all, but doesn’t this mean something changed?
A bug was fixed recently where you could create a review of a game that was still in progress.
This had to be fixed, because reviews got the ability to have AI suggestions … hence an obvious cheat was available if you knew that.
It also would have been cheating even before AI, to create a review of a game where analysis was disabled.
What do you mean that it “no longer does”?
If you mean “turning off disable analysis no longer lets you create a review in-game”, yes that is a fix that went in recently.
Maybe we should allow it in unranked games, for teaching and other purposes? ![]()
Yes, it was convenient for me to use this feature when I played games with my students, and it would be great if it worked in non-rated games, or if there was a separate setting for it
Interesting - we are talking about “teaching games” in another thread right now:
My teaching account got wrongly flagged for AI use. - #29 by jlt
I wonder if this is part of a “teaching game feature set”?
Based on my screenshots it’s no longer possible to create a custom game with analysis enabled. Or else the open invite widget is displaying wrong information?
Ah that sounds like a “totally unintended major bug” ![]()
I’ll take a look (unless someone else beats me to it)
Fun fact: it turns out that you can create a custom game with analysis enabled
(It was a bit astonishing if we had a bug like this, it seems like something people do all the time!)
The actual bug is that the card on your home page for invites wrongly shows analysis always being disabled ![]()
The fix is on its way.
