I am having a hard time understanding why OGS changed the word komi to come. Here’s an image. The only possible explanation I can think of is that someone indiscriminately ran all the ogs text through a spelling corrector. That person should be gently admonished for not realizing that doing that is not a good choice since spelling correctors don’t know about the japanese go terms. Am I right that that is the explanation of what happened?
I just went back to the browser tab, and looked again, and it says komi now. So I’m even MORE grateful for having taken that screen shot earlier today, since we know that SOMETHING is going on.
I am inclined to agree with you that it is a browser issue and not an ogs issue, but if any of our readers here who understand the ins and outs of chrome could explain what happened, I would love it.
Earlier today before I started that game on which “come” mysteriously appeared instead of “komi”, I had clicked the little rectangle near the upper right corner on OGS that means “live streams”.
I chose a stream that turned out to be in something like french. I was looking at the chat in the stream, and I highlighted some of the french chat and right-clicked on it, and chose “translate this selection” and then I chose “translate whole page”.
Then later I played my game, and when I chose “game information”, I saw the mysterious “come”. I’m highly suspecting that my translate requests as described above somehow “leaked” onto the subsequent “game information” popup, but just now I tried to reproduce the issue by again visiting a live stream and translating some text, then going back to my (completed) game and choosing “game information” but alas, so far, I am still only seeing the expected “komi” and not “come”.
