It's Now Easier to Accuse Opponents of Using AI

I’ve seen several matches where the losing player easily accuses their opponent of using AI just because the opponent made a good move. I reviewed the moves in those games, and while the moves were quite good, they weren’t at an AI level.

just an example
(deleted, because we don’t name and shame in the forums)

I don’t understand why in his last games, he wrote this.

Upon this he’s very rude in the game you report. I reported this player, and what he said is now hidden btw.

Luckily I don’t think this is a common attitude but I understand your disappointment.

Edit: sorry I mix and you were just watching, not playing. Anyway, that player is not worth of more talking.

Actually, players are not allowed to use chat to accuse their opponent (or other players) of using AI.

This is viewed as “harassment”.

If this is happening in an offensive way, you should report it using the report mechanism NOT in the forums here.

sorry guys, I am not using this forum to lead everyone to report some players.

my initial intention is to bring conversation about moral topic,
-why nowadays people can easily accuse opponents of using AI? (this didn’t happen in the past)
-how to act if your opponent do that
-is there any alternative solution in the future

Because strong AI is easily available to everyone, and the temptation to “just find out what the AI would think here” is very strong.

If your opponent accuses you of using AI you have these options:

  1. Totally ignore it

  2. Block them

  3. Report them for harassment

It’d be best to only resort to #3 if you think the other person is likely to be very rude again to you and others.

Often the exclamation “AI” comes from a sore loser who is exasperated - they’re not really accusing you, they’re just cross at themselves for being beaten and looking for an excuse.

Each report consumes moderator resources, which we are short of at the moment, so report judiciously.

Open to ideas…

I recommend this. Just laugh to yourself that you played so well they thought you had to be cheating. If I were making the rules, accusing someone of AI use in chat wouldn’t even be against the rules unless it became trying to convince others that they used AI without reasonable evidence or reporting without reasonable cause for suspicion
