KaTrain -is more KaReview than train

I tried out KaTrain and have come to the conclusion that it does not really offer more that the AI Review facility of an OGS game as a site supporter. It operates in a similar way to AI Sensai on Pandnet.

I was really hoping for something that would drill me on certain skills. For example, here’s a corner position, invade and kill the black group, and then you get to play it out. OR connect your stones after a 3 space jump was invaded in the middle.

It still feels to me that we dont really have any training tools over and above game review or Tsumego.

These are both good but I’m truggling to learn direction of play, defending my moyo, closing things off when both parties are wanting to grab territory.

Playing, reviewing games, and doing problems is training.

Your observation reminds me of the old joke about the man who goes to visit Oxford and says “I’ve seen some lovely libraries, dormitories, and auditoriums, but where is the university?”
