I doubt that many people cheat this way. As for accidentally accessing a game when logged out, a player would have to compound the error by reading the chat; if they didn’t do that then the accidental access wouldn’t matter.
I like OP’s suggestion to make the e-mail link show you the game from your perspective, logged in or not.
It guards against accidental reading what you didn’t want to see.
We’d have to require login to achieve that.
At the moment a purported benefit of Malk is that you can see it even as a guest.
I say purported, because I don’t see Malk getting much use at all, let alone by guests.
I added a filter to the “Watch” page to allow you to find games with Malk. I used it a few times myself, but never found anything interesting … I seem to be one of the rare people who just chats to myself in Malk ![]()
Edit: actually, I went and tried this again and did bump into a more interesting Malk log in correspondence games … huh! But I’ve still yet to see kibitzing in Malk - ever.
Little if any kibitzing goes on, at least at lower levels. However, a lot of Malk was used for move commentary (for viewing after the game) in the Regular-Six rengo games a year or more ago. I use it in most of my games for that reason.
Check out my games ![]()
(Not saying my MLog is worth anything as I’m only ~8k, but it’s usually only for myself and for my opponents anyway.)
Not really, we can have a guest xxx in the log. For moderation only associated with a (hidden for users) IP
For convenience this log should be separated from the chat but with reference to moves numbers and time (in/out)
Malakovitch is something inherited from the correspondance gaming roots, I feel it’s interesting how we can get it working well and being attractive to the live world. There are more examples of its use on the L19 forum btw.
Uhm, “Malkovich” is something that OGS copied from the L19 forum actually ![]()
Oh I never said that OGS created this concept ![]()
