Ladder speed climbing

So it seems the key to a fast ladder climb is preparation. set yourself up as follows:

1. join ladder
2. climb however you like
3. when you get to wherever you want to in the ladder, challenge 3 people.
4. time out of one of those games

now you are ready for your speed climb! All you need to do is win one of the other two games and you will climb from the bottom of the ladder to that person’s place in one jump - speedy!

Ladder timeout reprieve unfair

The reprieve that is offered to people who timeout of ladders seems unfair. Here is why: if the timed out person wins one of their ongoing games, they get promoted to above their opponent (who did not time out) if that same opponent wins against the timed out person, the opponent does not get promoted (because the timed out person got dropped to the bottom of the ladder). This does not seem fair, and is particularly frustrating in the 19 x 19 ladder where games can take months. If there i…
