Developer Gian-Carlo Pascutto AKA gcp (of Leela and Leela Zero fame) to step back from the Leela Zero project and pass it on to the community:

@gcp, can you shed some light on any concrete plans for Leela Zero and whethe…r we will finally see (intrusive) features that go beyond what DeepMind has done (if only in an experimental pipeline)? Right now, this project is in the exceptional position of being the single obvious choice for the general public to contribute computing resources to for the purpose of creating an as strong as possible go engine and it would be a real shame if the opportunity to try out things with such resources would be irreversibly lost if the training were to finally stall at 40x256 and competing projects that are more willing to experiment would start appearing and siphon off contributors.
