This would be a unique feature wich integrates a pattern search in the the review tool.
Maybe just a button which is clickable as soon as a corner pattern match is detected which leads you to the position in JE. Would make the JE more connected with the site and easier for everyone to study new joseki :slight_smile:

Maybe a little Book icon.

And the button has three modes:

  1. empty board 100% joseki match (green color)
  2. already some stones on the sides, Josekis might be not suitable in this situation (orange color)
  3. no pattern recognised (red color)

A link between review and JE is :+1: suggestion.
But that button ought to be used on request (on a specific state of the board), I don’t imagine what it would cost for the server to let a pattern recognition run non stop on the background for every boards.

A pattern recognition anyway isn’t a small task to implement and would surely come with some more difficulty on the side: selecting an area, symétries…

How would you integrate it to the review? Just opening JE on the corresponding page, or furthermore marking the sequence on the review board in a way like the AI ?

Another :thinking: idea. I’m not sure that JE is answering this for every variations . You ll have to define what are stones on the side exactly too.
You may have to consider more: corner, influence, point, gote or sente, how long can you play somewhere else… I mean there are no reason to privilege one information (the state of each side) and all this would turn in a immensely complex transposition which is surely out of reach IMHO.
