Live challenge sound plays but the bell icon dropdown never shows it

When I receive a Live challenge, nothing appears in the bell icon dropdown at the top of the page — the in-app notification list stays empty and the bell badge counter does not increase.

Interestingly, the “Challenge received” sound does play, which suggests a notification frame might be arriving on the websocket, but somehow the bell dropdown and the badge are not being updated.

Symptoms

  • Challenge type: Live
  • Bell icon dropdown: never shows the challenge (the primary issue)
  • Bell badge counter: never increases
  • Sound: plays (“Challenge received” sound is audible)
  • Happens every time, not intermittently.

Environment

  • Username: yuki2006_kd (user id 721114)
  • Browser: Chrome 148.0.7778.168 (Official Build, arm64)
  • OS: macOS
  • Network: Home Wi-Fi

What I checked

  • Single tab only, no multi-tab
  • Challenger is not blocked / hidden
  • No matching auto-decline rule
