looking for sage advice teaching in a game how to play

Excellent, many thanks! That works fine out of the box, and I see that he “achieved” an average of 0.9"/move in that game! Checking a few other recent games, I see averages

  • on 9×9 — 2", 3", 3", 0.9", 1", 1"
  • on 13×13 — 1", 3", 1", 2h3’6" (corr.), 2", 1"

Looking at games he seems to have won properly I see an average of 3" on 13x13, 2" + 7" in byo-yomi on 9x9, 3" 9x9, 3" 9x9, 4" 9x9, 2"9x9, 9"+ 2" b-y 9x9, 2" 9x9. It appears that thinking for at least 2"/move is a necessary (but not sufficient) condition for him to win, though that is certainly distorted by the time he needs to type some chat.

P.S. But I notice that many of his opponents also play absurdly fast.

P.P.S. I have seen that he averaged 0.7"/move in this game and could have won if he had not resigned! But the first 30 moves are far more effective than his usual style: was that the monk? Also his opponent played the same Lego assembly style as him for much of the game, nobi-ing through boring areas.
