Maximum Fischer Time Settings for Live Games

iirc, the backend calls a game with at least 4 hours per move correspondence, with less it’s live.

time per move = main/240 + 1 period / (number of stones per period)

Putting aside the “+1 period…” (Is this related to a Fisher setting?)
main=240*4hours to be a correspondance
=40 days.

So a 30 days game is live for the system?

I think he meant more than 4 hours for game, by the formula he gave.

I believe @Jon_Ko is to thank for it :slight_smile: Made some waves :slight_smile:

Not just that, I even did the coding, but that was just two simple “* 4” because of the very nice code structure. The discussion was more time consuming :sweat_smile:.

And if trolls-using-this-to-troll will become a problem, I’m happy to try and help with that too.

It is quite nice that it seemed to all follow from a relatively simple change, and good job in spotting what to change etc :slight_smile:

I assume the players should be happy with it :slight_smile: There’s a couple of games where they’ve banked a few minutes of time over an hour.

Practically it’s fixed now. The settings allow players to bank time up to 4 hours, wich should be enough until japanese title matches are played on OGS using Fischer timing (though live byo-yomi games also don’t allow more than 4 hours main time).
