Middle Game Corner review request (15k)

Hi, in my recent games I made some terrible mistakes in middle game, but I am not sure what I am doing wrong. It is starting to be a pattern so I am quite worried.

Can you give me some advices what to focus on in situations like in game https://online-go.com/game/8771046 around move 118?

I am quite new to go (week or so) so it will probably be something fundamental - any help will be greatly appreciated.

Attaching and attacking are not the same thing. Some of the attachments that you made actually seemed to make it easier for white to scoop out the corner, rather than harder.

I think the key blunders were 117 and 125. Move 125 allowed White to claim the vital point and assure life. Move 117 isn’t a blunder, strictly speaking, but it allowed White to create the complication that reversed the game. I left some comments on the earlier part of the game too.

Thanks for amazing insights - I learned a LOT of things!

Looks like my main problem (from “strategic point of view”) was being too aggresive in response to dubious aggresive moves. (chess way of thinking?)

Time to start thinking about how to punish mistakes most effectively instead of “this is strange I have to punish it”…

Thanks again, it helped me a lot.

Up to this move you played very well. With following sequence black can eat white. https://online-go.com/review/246739
