Hey, so there was a preliminary group stage in Hitoshima Aluminium Cup. NHK-style time control with 30 seconds per move. In the final game of the group there was this curious game. First of all, I like how white took the center. But also black resigned and yet AI isn’t happy.

I just ran the level IV KataGo review, which estimates the final position as W+3.6

At this stage Katago thinks Black is not completely dead

but if Taguchi Misei didn’t see any way to save the black group or at least to use its aji to get enough profil, then there is no way Black can recover from that loss.
