Do we need to explain what is teaching?
Well we have so far agreed in this thread that we don’t know what the definition of “a teaching game” would be.
If we make a checkbox called “teaching game”, we have to be able to explain what it means and why it is different from the unranked checkbox.
Otherwise we will have similar threads to this asking “what is this teaching game checkbox”?

KGS has a “teaching game” category, the definition is
In a teaching game, the player with white has the ability to stop the game, make annotations, try variations, and restart the game. See Tools for Demos, Teaching, and Review for more information. Unlike other game types, in a teaching game, players can see comments that observers make about the game while it progresses. The chat line in a teaching game can be supplemented with audio if the teacher has a Teaching Account. A teaching game has no effect on ratings.

Yes, a teaching game checkbox that enables new functionality tailored to teaching would be a useful enhancement to OGS, one which is just an antonym for the ranked checkbox wouldn’t.

Oh. I’ve just seen this message after my account got suspended at last. Thx for clarifying.
Some of my students can’t properly send a game challenge (how to ask for an unranked one or how to get a “real” time settings). I guess I will be the one sending them from now on then.

If you see ways we could make that process easier for students, we’re open to improving it

I mostly keep my teaching games private with the title Teaching, as private can never be ranked.
