I don’t really like sharing Chinese songs, but this is an exception. Her voice is unparalleled sound from far away mountains.

In Italy singer and composer Domenico Bini is cheering up the quarantined with his songs to keep up the moral. The two songs I’m posting are sung “in languages”.

Actually the second one is not about Coronavirus, but it’s my favourite.

Getting this melody stuck in my head(s) these last few days…

Summary

“Dirty old river/ Must you keep rolling?
Flowing into the night/
People so busy/ Make me feel dizzy,
Taxi light shines so bright.”

I’ve been singing this to myself

Yes, sir. I will, sir, Thank you, sir.

“Gee, the money’s really great.” Made me chuckle when he changed his infliction. Giving me some Ghetto Defendant vibes.

Since we’re taking a turn:

Summary

What is this town if, without care
It builds for years on piles of air
What is this town if, short of breath
It chokes itself to selfish death

What is this town if, full of cats
The place is packed with doggone rats
No chance to sit, when parks we pass
Leisurely on turd-free grass
No chance to skip the traffic lights
And cross the main roads without fright
No chance to see, in shopping streets
Glad non-consuming eyes to meet
No chance to go just anywhere
There’s always streets up for repair
No chance to find a place to stay
Unless you pay all the goddamn way
A poor town this if, filled with stone
It leaves no place to call our own
What is this town if, what a joke
All of its pride goes up in smoke

What is this town if, full of cats
The place is packed with doggone rats
No chance to keep wide-open house
The city’s brains are like mad cows
No chance to deal with businessmen
Who sell the shit, the hits, the fan
No chance to give this town a clue
It turns into a concrete zoo
No chance to wait for things to change
Unless buildings get hit by planes
No chance to stop this money vulture
From turning bullshit into culture
A poor town this if, filled with stone
It leaves no place to call our own
What is this town if, to unsound
It burns itself down to the ground

I’m sure there’s grass that’s greener, on the other side
There’s something green in my eye, this I won’t deny
We’re told their grass is greener, and this is the other side
This must be dr. Jekyll’s teeth, isn’t it, mayor Hyde

I hesitate at my chance to try at something prophetic or wise, perhaps poignant or maybe even anecdotal. Instead, will let the music speak for itself, and perhaps edit in a summary later…

If you made it through the ten minute mark your constitution will be raised based on your current level… and again at fourteen minutes.

I’m feeling somewhat dystopian these days.

親愛的 你在煩惱些什麼呢
雨已經停了 所有的星星都亮了
冬天的爭執和謠言都已經遠離
你是否感到微微的暖意

低低的琴音 為久違的愛情伴奏
da da da la…

da da da la…

Here comes the ocean
And the waves down by the sea
Here comes the ocean
And the waves where have they been

Silver and black lit night, here’s to a stealer’s night
An empty splendid castle
Glowering alone at night, the princess has had a fight
Madness seeks out a lover

And here come the waves
Down by the shore
Washing the soul of the body
That comes form the depth of the sea

Here comes the ocean
And the waves down by the sea
Here comes the ocean
And the waves where have they been

Don’t swim tonight my love, the tide is out my love
Malcolm’s curse haunts our family
Odious loud and rich, ruler of filthy seas
Revel in heaven’s justice

And here come the waves
And save for a scream
There’s much like a song to be heard
In the wind that blows by the sea
Like the wind

Here come the waves
Here come the waves
Here come the waves
Here come the waves

In 1987, the martial law period in Taiwan was declared over. For the first time, Crystal Records introduced the emerging British and American “New Music” to Taiwan, and also introduced the concept of underground music and independent music band to Taiwan. In August of the same year, the first “Taipei New Music Festival” was held. In addition to introducing the latest British and American punk rock music information, it also used the scenes of the festival to establish the sound channels of Taiwan ’s first underground singers and orchestras. Underground orchestras such as Double X, 骨肉皮, Bone n 'Teeth, 濁水溪 Commune, 趙一豪, 吳俊霖 (Wu Bai) and other groups can continue to sing and survive in subterrenean bars everywhere.

There are many versions of the house of rising sun. This version is what I always recommend.
