New blacktoplay.com Interface

blacktoplay.com has a new interface. I don’t like it. Sure, it looks nice and modern, but you have to click twice to play a stone, so that’s just annoying. The rating graph I’m used to is gone. But worst of all, some of the puzzles now have white to play first - the site is called “Black to Play”! Sacrilege! Clue’s int’name!:joy: It was fine as it was. What happened to “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? There should be an option to revert to the old interface. Let that be a lesson to those who tinker! Oh well…

Has anyone else tried it? What do you think?

In the hamburger menu under settings you can turn off the annoying double tap.

I don’t like it too.
Honestly, I don’t like any big changes in any interfaces. I think in most cases it is evil.

Now they need us to register an account and they have a paid option with more problems?

I had to write a script to make the ui better :sob:

That’s clearly a downgrade, and hard to understand from a site that already had a sleek, modern-looking UI.

I don’t really like the AI tsumego. Just like the Tsumego in The Infinite Path app, sometimes the answers by the AI do not make sense.

And for those of you not on FB
(add on for Uberdude’s link)

Today I have a big announcement to make! I have just released a new version of my tsumego site

Here are some of the most notable new features:

There is an expansion pack available with more than 100,000 tsumego. A vast majority of these tsumego are unique for the app.

It is possible to create an account for saving progress and statistics between logins and devices. Users can be logged in at 3 different devices simultaneously.

There are three different kinds of tsumego available. Classic tsumego, whole board middle game tsumego, and whole board endgame tsumego. The whole board tsumego have been automatically generated, graded, and tagged for content, using AI. There are about 160 different tags, such as ko, bent four, ladder, tombstone squeeze, etc, and it is possible to sort tsumego by tag in the app.

It is possible for users to comment text and diagrams with variations on puzzles, and to save tsumego to a list of favorites.

All tsumego are categorized into one or more of 15 different categories, such as basics, eyes, ko, seki, tactics, etc. Users can see statistics of how strong they are at each category.

Additional information:

The ranks can be a little bit off in the beginning, as they are automatically set by a computer program. They will, however, settle over time.

I have never before charged money for any Go software I have made. This new version has an expansion pack with 100,000+ tsumego, which the user can purchase for a one-time payment of $12.99. While this isn’t about making big profits, any support could potentially help me dedicate more time and energy to creating new, innovative Go tools and software. Also, $12.99 seems to me like a reasonable price for life-time access to 100,000+ tsumego.

The app currently supports 7 languages. We are hoping to be able to add more soon — starting with Korean, and later Vietnamese, Thai, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Hopefully, we will also be able to release an app for iOS and Android sometime in the future.

? Is this an AI generated response?

Why should I use AI to evaluate what I already know, which is that your comment is completely unrelated to the thread aside from being about the same website?

then give reasons you think the OP is lying. Show screenshots showing their claims are false. Right now, you come off as far less reliable

Listen to yourself. You’re denying the plain meaning of the OP in favor of a conspiracy theory

So you admit to intentionally creating drama for marketing? thanks for the self-report

Confused, is Samraku replying to someone I have censored and thus can’t see?

Seems all their comments were deleted.

Across all threads :3

It was a user who claimed they were OP and that this thread was an elaborate scheme to promote blacktoplay.com

How strange… Surely it was obvious that they were not me, hence not the OP :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Also, they clearly did not read my original post - I said I don’t like it :joy: But you know what they say: “no such thing as bad publicity”

Anyway, maybe it’s just that I don’t like change and I just need to get used to it…
