Hello! I have learned much from previous reviews and tried to implement advices like not capturing already dead stones in my games. However, I still feel like I am missing something.
I see some clear mistakes, move 11 was unnecessary, stone was already in ladder, and the move 21 leaves stone easily separable.
It would be great if you could share your thoughts on the game. I am especially interested in move 45. I made it to prevent the shape from having two eyes, but AI review highlights it as inaccuracy. Possibly I am missing something what could save white from being captured (possibly 1B point)
Hi there magnummalum!
I made a short review, which i hope youll find helpful. Feel free to come back to me with questions, if I missed something you were interested in .
3 can take 4 and 4 can take 3. This is the first ko. If you win it (meaning you don’t answer a ko threat somewhere else) then you can capture one more white stone and fight a new ko. This time if you win it again you kill (just capture the group of stones in atari).
So your intuition was right although it’s difficult not only to see it but to win it. We say it’s a 2 steps ko, you have to win twice the battle of threats.
There are still some threats because you don’t have much to lose (instead of white) and there are still big endgame moves like H5: if white don’t answer you can slide from H5 to J8, a monkey jump (which may be enough as being a threat to win).
The whole may be over your head as beginner, I thought I’ll still answer you by honesty and because you ask for it.
