No answer about sandbagging

Hi,

after than 4 of my reports about sandbagging have been erased with no comments or action, I send that :
game 56979433
this game shows obviously that chigusaaaaa is not 2k I know that moderators have erased my 4 last reports, but they CAN’T ignore this one

But, looks like moderator are not able to see obvious sandbagging.
Will OGS become the sandbagging place ?

I don’t see it either, but then I’m no expert. Can you elaborate ?

That game is not obvious sandbagging to me. In fact there are some crude moves that I would not expect a 2k or stronger to have remaining in their shape intuition e.g. Tournament Game: Live 19x19 Swiss Tournament 2023-09-11 08:30 (107365) R:4 (Chigusaaaaa vs hamlet01). What parts of it are obvious sandbagging to you?

I have a similar experience. In the last weeks I reported some issues, but when after about three days there was no reaction at all, I cancelled them.
I do realise that OGS moderator is a voluntary job, which I have appreciated in the past. It is however a bit disappointing when no answers are given at all.

I hope not, because it takes the fun out of playing go.
Maybe a mod can explain what criteria they use in determining whether a player is sandbagging or not.

I think the OP is accusing the 7k to be a sandbagger because he had chances to win against a 2k. But I don’t see any evidence of sandbagging either. The 2k made a few bad moves for a 2k. The game was cahotic because of a ko, it often happens that a weaker player wins in such situations. And finally the 2k won the game. So again, no evidence at all of sandbagging in my opinion.

Moves like 12, 32,34,38,46(the list goes on and on) are all too horrendous for white to be a 2k.

To be honest I’m even surprised white’s 7k

Meanwhile, black plays alot of moves that seems a bit soft for a 2k. If I were in black shoes I’d murder white and not win by only a few points. lol
So were you trying to say black sandbags and plays super soft for a 2k? lol

Sorry about your experience. Reports expire after a while and we have to prioritise. We do our best and are grateful for your support and understanding. We are also working on improvements to avoid this in future.

That’s what I was talking about: people hunt witches in the single game

Sorry, I was talking about sandbagging for the 7k, not the 2k .
And I had other games with this 7k that make me think is a sandbagger.

Actually, I’m ok to help you to analyse sandbagging report if you need !

I had other games with this guy.
And, with practice, it is rather easy to feel a sandbagger while playing with him.
But I admit it’s more difficult to see in a review.

your 1st game vs Chigusaaaaa:

you resign very early for no reason

2nd game

again

and 3rd…

while you are ahead

I wasn’t convinced, but the rating graph of that guy does indeed look very suspicious.

I can see both sides of this. On the one hand it is indeed very hard to detect sinister behavior in online games, I’d say it is an AI level problem. Even if objectively there is variation in the playing strength of a player this may be for a benign reason. I know I play at least 2 ranks better when rested and alert than when tired.

OTOH when someone really wants to manipulate the ratings they’ll find a way to do it, even within a single game. I.e. they can intentionally play a few shitty moves to make observers doubt (exactly as it is happening in this thread), and then turn on their full strength for the rest. Online chess servers are full of this sort of stinkers.

I’m going to close this topic because the direction this is going is very much naming and shaming a particular user, and I don’t think we need a forum wide discussion of particular users behaviour. I apologise on behalf of the moderator team that the report was not handled and we will try to get to these reports in a more timely manner.

I will follow up with @döskee in private message about this user.
