Ooh good point, I was thinking it may be better just to sacrifice it, but I hadn’t realised properly the logic that with fractional Go the value is reduced with it also already being White potential “territory”, and as it’s not cutting white apart it’d only serve to live in the corner White has already spent moves and made a strong potential territory in.
Team-whites, any ideas?
I think you can still pressure the black-green group, just keep in mind that you don’t have much cyan eye space either.
I’m not unhappy in the upper left, given that it has been two vs one the last couple of moves. I’m planning to continue somewhere in that area, but haven’t submitted a move yet.
Round 9
In the upper left @martin3141 and @fuseki3 collide in a pushing battle. Meanwhile @yebellz continues building at the top side.
In the upper right @benjito reaches out to the third line, while @A_Normal_Name blocks on the second line. Both are moving towards the left in sync.
@Jon_Ko extends on the right side, as their stones liberties are shortened by @Feijoa extending their cutting stone at the lower side. Meanwhile @Gooplet extends towards the center and builds a wedge between the black groups.
Round 10
On the lower side both @Gooplet and @Feijoa play an Atari, while @Jon_Ko extends their stones liberties.
In the upper right @benjito connects their cutting point, and @A_Normal_Name blocks them from the left.
To their left @martin3141 works towards connecting to the left. Meanwhile @yebellz jumps from the corner towards the left side. @fuseki3 blocks white in the centre.
I’m heading to Vancouver for a tournament, so I won’t be able to make any new moves for the time being. ^^
I’m in trouble
Team please help me connect!
Currently there are three main fights going on. While @martin3141 — being outnumbered in the upper left corner by @yebellz and @fuseki3 — calls for help, @Feijoa is outnumbered on the bottom by @Gooplet and @Jon_Ko, but keeps calm and connects.
And so does @A_Normal_Name in their 1vs1 battle with @benjito in the upper right corner, who is on the way to the center of the board.
I dont understand L&D here, but i heard 4 eyes is the name of the game so im still running haha
You need one eye more than opponents. You have four opponents, so you need five. I’d run too.
Of course there are some exceptions with shared liberties and stuff, but I haven’t done many tsumegos yet (maybe two that I set up myself).
I’m planning to play at the position marked with a brown . Maybe a teammate could play at the cyan to ensure the connection?
Do you want a green stone at that cyan star? We’d have to replace it with another color after it gets captured.
I don’t know. Cyan is a secondary colour with the potential to have some support in the area.
In theory, we could play both of the points to the left of and below that cyan star to still cut, with two players from our team @yebellz @Feijoa @benjito if anyone would like to join me
For example, if I were to play the point below it and yebellz the point to the left of that.
Of course saying so might lead the W team to add more stones there too
And I’m not sure if it’s the best way to cut or best move on the board globally ^^
Is cutting on the left important? The white stones they could connect to don’t have much potential for eyes.
The connection on the right side seems a lot more urgent:
since that connects them to a large group of white stones with eye potential. But there are various ways we could play to disconnect that side, so maybe we could save that for later?
There are also some parts of the group on the left that could be attacked, for example if you or @yebellz played here:
I’m not sure that my pink stones would be a great contribution to any of these efforts though, since they’d get killed soon no matter what.
I have no idea really about how to evaluate any of this.
I was eyeing that area also but didn’t want to give it away haha ^^
I won’t mind some help in this area hehe. I think I’m fine to keep running by myself, but some pressure on the white groups will help a lot
