anell (ring, Catalan)

anel (alternate spelling, still ring)

Are short forms (nell’) ok?

Anew

Not sure what you mean by short forms.

ane (elder sister, Japanese)

Normally it’s “nello/a”, but if the following word starts with a wovel we write (and pronounce) “nell’”

Cane (dog, Italian)

I’d like to stick with orthography. The shiritori games broke down over some players wanting to play more phonetically but not agreeing on how to do it.

also walking stick, english
also the name for a branch of sugar plant
