I recently bought myself a new laptop and because the few friends who use them like them very much I decided to get myself a Macbook. I knew it would take some time to get used to it after a dozen of Windows-operated ones but I’m confident I’ll get used to it. There’s however one issue that came up which could not be answered by friends or looking on the internet. None of those friends play Go or use apps that might need configuration and it doesn’t seem to be an issue worth mentioning / discussing on the web.
If I click on the flag-icon I don’t get a drop down menu like on the ones on the left and right of it. Since it is the icon which should enable me to “pass” or “resign” I cannot finish a game properly. After encountering the issue against playing a “real” opponent I’ve tried two more games against a bot but I cannot figure out how to make the app work properly.
I’ve sent an e-mail to Pandanet over a week ago to get any relevant information to my specific issue but it looks like I won’t get any answer soon, or at all for that matter.
Maybe there’s someone on this forum that can help me out here? I’d appreciate that. I need the practice playing live games
I play on OGS daily, both correspondence (mostly) as well as live games. My question about playing on Pandanet has nothing to do with something being wrong with playing on OGS. I like OGS very much. However, finding a match for a properly balanced game is much easier on Pandanet / Fox / KGS. Of those three I prefer Pandanet.
I think that has nothing to do with it. It is impossible to accept or offer a game with restrictions concerning how to end a game. I have played 500+ games on Pandanet and my experience so far has been good.
Does it support keyboard navigation? If not, I wouldn’t consider it worthwhile playing there.
I used to have a Mac, which was an unfortunate deviation from a lifetime of Linux. I learned rather quickly that at least an average level of dexterity is necessary for admission to the tribe.
I even remember trying Panda at that time – about 3 years ago – and I didn’t see this problem. So either keyboard interface is there or they have broken mouse interface in the time since then.
Thank you for the reply Ian. I can use the mouse to click on the other icons (to the left and right os the flag) so that interface doesn’t seem to be broken.
I downloaded the app from the IGS / Pandanet website. I just checked the App Store on my MacBook and I noticed that the app was developed for iPhone and iPad and may not work properly on other devices. It might have something to do with that.
Never mind the point of asking about a different server, or your passive aggressive attitude, when you report an issue with an app, it’s good to mention what the app name is (for your reference, for the future)
I’m confused. I thought the OP was clear from the beginning about the context of their problem, and afaict it was you who introduced which server was better to the discussion, not the OP
I assumed (unintentionally wrong perhaps) that it would be obvious since being able to play on Pandanet requires downloading a bit of software (for Windows / Mac / Linux) from their website. I was hoping to get an answer from people who also use a Mac to play on Pandanet and perhaps had run into the same problem.
Your reply confused me too! As it turns out, Pandanet Go ended up in my app-folder and GoPanda2 on my Home Screen, which I hadn’t really noticed. I cannot recall what I did exactly, I must have been confused by the almost similar logo’s or something silly like that
P.S.: I had seen the interface of the Pandanet Go on my iPhone so seeing the same on my Macbook didn’t seem weird to me. I thought it was the “Apple-look”
