12k???

I did correctly first two moves following my instinct but wasn’t able to read it to the end.
Also there’s at least one move that I wasn’t able to figure out.

So something must be wrong: my rank or puzzle’s rank.
(actually I believe that my OGS rank is too high)

Ranking puzzles is automated, haven’t changed it yet.

White to start and turn this situation into a seki.
(If White doesn’t do anything, Black makes a 12 point group.)

White can create a ko in the corner.

This one is a beauty.
Black looks pretty safe and good for about 10 points.
Appearances can be deceiving however
Look again … and turn this situation into a seki.
White to move.

True.
Many of these are beautiful.

It’s surprising how weaknesses could be exploited. For now I try to focus on recognizing them. Every time you post a puzzle I ask myself: where’s the weak spot?

This was in a blind spot for me. There were 4 first moves I find intuitively good. The solution is a 5th one.

Creating a seki (mutual life) can be useful in go: either as an escape for a group that is vulnerable or as a method of reducing your opponent’s territory.

White to play and create a seki.

At first glance I’d say that black may be killed

Be careful you talk to Hashimoto!

Si me first glance I select 3 moves P18 S18 S17
P18 look a bit useless, S17 a tesuji sometimes but not often so I would first focuse on the peep
Now I should thank OGS hideous puzzle system because I can only use my eyes to solve it, or cheating of course.
Then there are two things important to consider, but the first one: the liberty at Q16.
Means without it should die. Now in that sort of position, I remember If i have played S19-S18 I then can turn to R19 to kill with some shortage of lib for b to not be able to play S17.
Well with that on mind I start now to solve. Looks difficult.

Cheated, didn’t get that T15 move. Classic and nice, I wasn’t wrong so made me a bit happy although disappointed on my lazyness

White to move and … well, you will see what happens.
Only 57 moves with a lovely snapback at the end.
It is okay to use hints.

Hum

What if B tenuki C18 and go kill white down? Looking bigger
Ok re look at and in fact W take gote to live, as black can’t kill the other group. Nice. P7 is astonishing, a blind move.
Note, to live first there are other ways (so other solutions to the tsumego) like A13 S17 S15 B15, A13 looking optimal for yose but maybe not for ko threats.

57 moves yes but most are from a ladder so no variations to look at.

12k… That’s Hashimoto estimation ? I would say more like 4k… But it’s common this underrating in Japanese go books. Never understood why when you meet later overrated players
