Ratings explanation

Hi everyone,
I don’t understand the rating system on my profile, i have
1394±118
what does it all mean?!?!?!?!
i’m clueless!
thanks!

For the first number bigger is better. The second number is how sure the system is about the first number, so lower is better, but this isn’t really important. If you are very interested, we use glicko2 as rating system.

Just stay with the kyu/dan rating. We calculate these from your glicko2 rating, so they’re basically the same. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_ranks_and_ratings

Uh,… Hi and welcome to OGS and the forum.

In case you’re talking about the 4x4 table on the profile page labeled Ratings: please ignore it. You find your rank on the right of your username [15k]. The ratings table is more misleading than useful.

You can find out more about the kyu/dan rating on the Wikipedia page I linked above. Basically while you are kyu, a smaller number in front of the “k” means stronger.
