Reporting Inappropriate or harassment

I recently encountered a player who greeted me inappropriately, made goading comments on my game, referred to my nationality etc.

I won’t name the account ( I have reported it). But I looked at about 10 other games and this account is basically trolling people. Some of the other comments were about people’s mothers etc etc. I suspect many would just block the player and not report.

I reported this as harassment but I wonder if abuse would be a clearer category.

I find the GO community and ogs a respectful and helpful place so I hope such accounts get disabled when reported.

I do not think that suspension of the account will help. Abuser may create a new one.

I suppose the better solution is to silently disabling any outgoing messages from this account.

If I’m not mistaken, it only takes one report for a mod to look into it. I think whatever you think should happen, or at least something similar, is what already happens

It is not as easy as that. I’ve tested that a bit a few years ago (we had a debate here whether people could create new accounts and use the “new player ranking” to spam games against their main accounts and feed them rating points) and even with the dynamic IP, there seem to be failsafes that allow OGS to recognise “clones”.

Mods may just chat ban the offender.
