Review of go book library

My late uncle has an extensive go book collection featuring both English and Japanese books. I do not know where to start, whether there would be go
Clubs we could donate, or if there is a resale platform
For some? I believe some may be quite rare whereas others may be common prints. Any ideas of where I should start?

Firstly i think the question is which country are they in and are you willing to post them or are you looking for something local?

Might be some further ideas here also

I’d say as @teapoweredrobot robot mentions and you’ll see people mention in the Reddit thread, a lot of things come down to whether you’re selling them in bulk, as small sets, willing to post them locally or to another country/continent etc.

I’m also collecting various Go books, and Japanese Go books myself  So I might be interested in some.

I’m sure the Dublin Go club would be happy with some books either to bulk up their lending library.

But again it just depends, you might find local clubs, local buyers etc.

Well my husband is Irish as well so we’re forever back and forth seeing friends and family so maybe I’ll bring some with me, perhaps if I take pictures of the shelves and spines it would give some indication?! I’m happy to do both individual and bulk, my Uncle was an aavid player and I don’t mind a slightly more labour intensive approach if they can be enjoyed. I will reach out to Dublin Go Club re the lending library and perhaps then offer any individual sales or requests prior? I wonder if I can post the pictures on this forum I will check rules and regs!! Thanks so much,

They’re currently in the UK, happy to post if postage is covered I just want them to continue being appreciated!

Have you tried the British Go Association?

And specifically the London Go Centre maintains a library and might well appreciate the donation.

Funnily enough I’ve tried reaching a couple of times on email with no response but may try and reach them by phone. There are shelves and shelves of books it’s almost overwhelming he was collecting for 50 years!

A few years ago I unsuccessfully tried to give 300 go books. I hope you ll have better chance.

Feel free both to stop by the Dublin Go club also if yous happen to in Dublin on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

That’s the info at the link below and I think there’s a link to email the secretary, though it might redirect to the president.

Yep, feel free to upload pictures

I’m sure once they go somewhere, sales, donations, in parts and whole, the Go world will be better for it

Where are the books located?

A few comments further up:

Yes, you said but whereabouts. There might be a Go club close

I think Cambridge is the closest but I’ve not had much luck contacting anyone there…

I live just outside Cambridge and have contacts. I might be interested in a few particular books but i already took a load off Charles Matthews and didn’t read them. The University club has a library and might be interested, though for many years was inaccessible in Alex Selby’s garage and I don’t know the current status. I can forward a message to various people and email lists. Do you have a list or pictures of the books?

As an update, I have managed to reach a very nice man at a club and may be able to find out what we’re dealing with re the Japanese books. I think many of the collection may be of interest to the GO world so once I’ve an idea of what we have I can reach out again! Thanks for everyone’s help!
