if both players vote on it. seems like a good feature imo. i just care about playing quickly and having fun, but sometimes someone might think for a few secs too long and the game times out, ruins a great match many a times.

OGS already has this in place!
You can fork the game and continue it with your opponent, or with a bot, if you want. “Fork game” can be found on right side panel between “estimate score” and “call moderator.”
You can also fork ongoing games, demo boards, or choose from what board position you want to continue it by first going back to that position.
