Most chess websites have ads around… Looks pretty messy.

Yep, lichess.org is the ogs of chess, and their developers are cool too 
It’s the only chess site worth playing at.

I haven’t tried online chess yet, but This makes me curious: What’s bad about FICS, for example?
I wouldn’t say FICS is bad or anything, just that lichess is great (note: lichess.org is effectively the ogs of the chess world, so naturally we’re a bit bias ;))
