Simple autoscore question

Very simple question. Sorry if the answer appears elsewhere - if so I couldn’t find it…

I’ve read through several lengthy threads on autoscoring (the good, the bad, the ugly) but what I cannot determine is whether BOTH (human) players get a chance to accept or reject an autoscore result before it becomes final?

Or it is the case that once the game gets to the autoscore stage, the result is binding upon both players, i.e., without a chance to go back and play any unresolved points.

[Then again, if autoscoring won’t take place until every single last dame has been sealed, then presumably there are no unresolved points left to be resolved?]

It depends on what you mean.

When both players pass, there’s an autoscore that tries to mark dead stones and territory.

It’s not 100% perfect so players can disagree with it and manually mark stones and areas. In that case, there is again an option to just run an autoscore to return it to the same initial state (unless there’s some issue).

Players can also disagree with each others proposed scoring or the the autoscore and resume to try and resolve the dispute (maybe open borders, maybe some unfinished ko etc).

There’s also an anti stalling feature where one player has passed many times while the other plays on.

I’d have to check again what the latest condos toons are, but typically that will allow the players an option to accept the AI scoring on the game when it’s clear cut.

I guess that’s another sort of autoscore, but I believe it only needs one player to accept it and there’s no option to resume after it’s accepted.

Thanks - as you said, I guess it depends. I did read a lot about the anti-stalling mechanisms and the wide range of opinions involved - doing so shed more heat than light

I wasn’t envisioning a stalling situation, just a courteous game that comes down to a point or less - and whether both players have a chance to return to play if either feels the need to do so without being forced to accept an autoscore result.

The latest update I’ve seen was this

saying it wouldn’t generally kick in with dame and tiere left (neutral and spots with defensive moves needed).

Previously it was

So I guess that latest update should supersede the older status of when the anti stalling feature would kick in.

But if anyone has recent experience with it, feel free to weigh in.
